Fibre Broadband

Fantastic news! We’re also a fibre provider, which means we can switch you over to our fibre optic line. To obtain all the necessary information, simply give our office a call, and we’ll gladly walk you through the next steps to get you connected.

I’m sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, first-time fibre installations can sometimes encounter complications, which may lead to delays in the installation process. This would be the case regardless of the provider, as every company in Ireland is required to use the same external installers for fibre. Rest assured, we are here to keep you updated every step of the way. It’s important to note that Rural Wi-Fi is not the installer, and these delays are entirely beyond our control.

1 – Check your modem is switched on. The pow switch is on the side of your modem.

2 – Are the LED lights green? The ‘Power’, ‘Internet’, and ‘WAN’ lights should be steady green, not flashing.

3 – Check the cables are correctly connected.

4 – If it’s still not working, you can reset your modem to its factory settings. You can find the instructions for this in your router user guide below.

There could be a problem with your Optical Network Terminal (ONT).

The correct pattern of lights on the ONT is ‘Power’ and ‘PON’ lights on, ‘Alarm’ light off and ‘DATA’ light flashing or on.

1 – If all the lights are off, make sure that the plug is in the power socket correctly and the switch on the socket is on, the power cable is connected in to the ONT fully and the power button is pushed in.

2 – If ‘PON’ light is off and ‘ALARM’ light is red, please turn the ONT off and on again. If lights do not change, contact our support team.

3 – If the ‘Power’ and ‘PON’ lights are on but the ‘ALARM’ is RED and ‘DATA’ light are off, make sure the modem is turned on and the cables between the ONT and modem are secure. The cable should be connected to the ‘WAN’ port on the back of your modem.

4 – If the ‘Power’ and ‘PON’ lights are on and the ‘DATA’ light is on but not flashing, try turning off your modem for 30 seconds and back on again. If lights do not change, try resetting your modem.

Here are the steps to follow to improve your Wi-Fi speeds:

1 – Position your device next to your modem. Make sure all is up-to-date with latest Software.

2 – Use the yellow Ethernet cable to connect your modem to your laptop.

Open Speed Test and initiate a speed test.

If the connection speed improves, there may be issues within your Wi-Fi setup affecting the speed. Chat to support to see what options are available.

Please also note that some devices may be too old to handle certain speeds and have a limit to what they can show.
