Having WiFi Problems?

We depend on the internet more and more each day. If we are not using our mobile, most of us will use a connected device at some stage during the day. So WiFi problems are the last thing you want.

While most of us don’t like to admit it, a pet peeve for many is slow or interrupted Wi-Fi. This is where knowing how to troubleshoot comes in handy.

Perhaps you’re sending an important file, or simply a funny meme, if your Wi-Fi connection isn’t great it can lead to a few problems.

At Rural Wi-Fi we strive to provide a professional and uninterrupted service, but sometimes this isn’t possible.

Thankfully, however, many Wi-Fi issues require a simple fix that you can do yourself.

We are going to look at some common Wi-Fi issues and what you can do to fix them.

How to Troubleshoot your WiFi Problems
A single device will not connect

This is one of the most common problems when a specific device will not connect while your other devices can. Here is a simple method that may solve your problems.

First, you should start by switching the Wi-Fi off on your device and turning it on again. If that fails, unplug your router and plug it back in after 30 seconds, then connect your device.

If the problem persists, your next option would be to delete the list of saved networks on your device and then reconnect.

One of the methods mentioned above should most definitely work.  If not, you can try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi from your device by going to WIFI troubleshooting.

Poor Internet Connectivity in Areas around the House

You may notice that the internet strength is weaker in certain areas around your house. The issue usually lies with the position of your router, or with obstructions such as walls and ceilings. It’s important to try to place your router in a central location.

Another option is to adjust the antennas, and alternate between fully vertical and horizontal positions until you get better reception.

If the problem persists, it might be time to invest in some hardware that can troubleshoot your problems. The A9 Wireless N300 Universal Range Extender is designed specifically to help boost signals around your home or office.

Poor Internet Connectivity Everywhere

You may find that no matter where you move around your house, the internet connection is still slow. In such scenarios, start by testing the internet speed. If it is low, contact your Internet provider.

It may be necessary to factory reset your router, which can be done manually. Talk to your router provider about the best way to do this. Remember though, this should be your final option.

The Tenda Nova Mesh Kit is a great piece of hardware that can provide seamless connectivity across your home or office and up to 60 devices. It might just be what you need to get a better connection for your devices.

No Internet Connection

Sometimes the worst can happen, and you lose your internet connection entirely.

Though less common with more modern routers and internet providers, it may still occur. Your best option is the reliable unplug-and-wait method. Usually, 30 seconds is enough.

If this doesn’t work, then it is usually a larger issue and it’s time to call your internet service provider. At Rural Wi-Fi we are used to dealing with the issues which come from living and working in rural Ireland. Our Support Team are always here to help!

Issues may be slightly more frequent than in more built-up areas, but we have the right team and know-how to get your issues resolved and your internet back up and running in no time.

If you are unhappy with your current provider then please contact us today and we can discuss your switching options.

Very happy and highly recommend. Last month we were looking for a new internet provider and spent some time reading reviews of the providers in our area. After readig them and talking about our choices, my wife and I liked the reviews of Rural Wifi, they had lots of them and the comments were very positive. So after all our research, we made our decision and are very happy with it. They offer great service which is hard to find these days and they also have a wonderful and friendly customer service team when you need them

Excellent, reliable company I have been with Rural WiFi for a number of years now. I have found them to be extremely reliable and reasonably priced. I live in the countryside and have forestry around my house. I tried a few companies before I found Rural WiFi, they are the only company that got us connected at a decent speed, even the landline speed was extremely slow (not fiberoptic) through eircom. Rural WiFi customer service is one of the best I've ever dealt with. They return a call or email when they say they will, they deal with the issue promptly and professionally. I recommend Rural WiFi 100%
