SIRO Rollout Map Update Revealed – 369,741 Homes Across Ireland

SIRO is Ireland’s first fibre-optic broadband that delivers directly to the home with speeds of 1 Gigabit per second and is the fastest broadband in Ireland.

SIRO is an ambitious joint-venture between Vodafone and ESB in 2015, which uses the existing ESB infrastructure to deliver ‘fibre-to-the-home’ broadband, providing 4 times the existing speeds in Dublin and 10 times the speeds in the rest of Ireland. SIRO is currently available to 343,825 home across Ireland, which is to increase in the coming months.

How SIRO Works

SIRO differs from other fibre broadband as it uses 100% fibre optic cables delivering Fibre-to-the-home(FTTH) or Fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP), unlike Fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) which uses copper at points within the network. By eliminating the copper element with 100% fibre optic cables which often causes delays and bottlenecks in the network, not only did this allow SIRO to be faster, but also more reliable and less exposed to damage over time. SIRO is said to be ‘future proof’ as they are resistant to high temperatures, humidity and fire.

The 100% pure fibre optic cables are connected directly to your home via the ESB network, instead of a telephone copper wire near your home, allowing the network to deliver faster speeds.

Why SIRO?

  • Faster
  • Reliable – ESB network
  • Future Proof
  • Unlimited devices can be used without slowing down

Very happy and highly recommend. Last month we were looking for a new internet provider and spent some time reading reviews of the providers in our area. After readig them and talking about our choices, my wife and I liked the reviews of Rural Wifi, they had lots of them and the comments were very positive. So after all our research, we made our decision and are very happy with it. They offer great service which is hard to find these days and they also have a wonderful and friendly customer service team when you need them

Excellent, reliable company I have been with Rural WiFi for a number of years now. I have found them to be extremely reliable and reasonably priced. I live in the countryside and have forestry around my house. I tried a few companies before I found Rural WiFi, they are the only company that got us connected at a decent speed, even the landline speed was extremely slow (not fiberoptic) through eircom. Rural WiFi customer service is one of the best I've ever dealt with. They return a call or email when they say they will, they deal with the issue promptly and professionally. I recommend Rural WiFi 100%
